Care Guide
Good hair takes good care. Here's how to keep yours looking like you just left the salon.
Your Hair, In Short
Before you startEvery clada piece is Remy human hair: the cuticles are aligned and the hair has a natural taper from root to tip, the way hair actually grows out of your head. It's not double drawn (where the finer ends are stripped out to make every strand the same thickness).
That natural taper is part of what makes it move and blend like real hair, but it also means the ends are naturally finer than a double-drawn piece, and need a bit more care. Most of this guide comes down to one thing: be gentle with the ends, and the rest looks after itself.
That taper is what makes it blend seamlessly with your own hair, a soft, natural finish rather than blunt, fake-looking ends.

Applying Your Extensions
Half Head, Full Head & Clip-In Streaks (DIY-friendly)Clip-ins are designed to go in and out yourself. It's beginner-friendly; most people have it down within a couple of tries.
- Section your hair, starting at the nape of your neck, and clip the rest up out of the way.
- Backcomb the root area of the section very lightly for grip, then clip the weft in close to the scalp.
- Release a new section just above, clip in the next weft, and repeat, building up in layers from the nape towards the crown.
- For streaks: section a thin piece of hair where you want the colour to show, and clip the streak in flat against the scalp.
- Blend by brushing your own hair down over the top track to hide the clips, then style as normal.
- Always remove before bed: unclip from the top down, gently, and store properly (see Washing & Everyday Care below).
Washing & Everyday Care
For every clada piece- Brush before you wash. Start at the ends and work up. Washing tangled hair tightens the knots, which leads to more breakage and shedding once it's wet.
- Always use a loop brush, ends first. Hold higher up and brush out the bottom few inches before working up to the roots. This single habit does more for how long your hair lasts than any product you buy.
- Sulfate-free, lightweight products only. Sulfates can strip the hair of moisture and fade colour faster, especially on extensions that don't get replenished by natural oils the way hair on your scalp does. Heavy oils, greasy products, and silicone buildup can weigh the hair down and cause tangling.
- Lukewarm water. Hot water opens the hair's outer cuticle layer, which dries the hair out and roughens it over time; that's what makes extensions feel "strawy".
- Condition the lengths, not the root. Keep conditioner away from clips and rings; product on the bond is the main cause of slipping.
- Sleep it loose. A loose braid or low ponytail. Hair left down rubs against fabric (and itself) all night, which is where most tangling and shedding starts. Never sleep on wet hair; it tangles even more easily and takes longer to dry, which weakens it.
- Wash every 15–20 wears, or whenever product builds up. They don't need washing as often as your natural hair.
- Dry shampoo works well between washes. Better than fine, actually. It soaks up oil at the roots without you having to wash (and re-wet and re-dry) the wefts as often, which means less handling and a longer life. Most brands won't tell you this because it doesn't sound luxurious. It works.
- Brushing: hold the weft just above the clip with one hand, and brush downward with a loop brush, ends first, same as the rest of the hair.
- Always take them out before sleeping, showering, or swimming. Sleeping in them causes friction at the wefts (tangling and shedding), water can swell and weaken the adhesive on the clips and wefts over time, and chlorine or salt water dries the hair out fast (see Sun, Sunbeds & Water below).
- Drying: lay flat on a towel or hang over a wide hanger so the wefts dry straight, not bunched.
- Storage: store in the bag or box it came in, laid flat, away from humidity and direct sunlight.
Heat & Styling
- Air dry when you can. Heat styling, even with protectant, gradually breaks down the cuticle. If you're blow-drying, use a heat protectant every time and keep the dryer on cool-to-medium.
- 180°C / 356°F max on heat tools, and this one really matters. Because extensions have a natural taper toward the ends, they burn more easily at high heat. Go higher and you risk damaging it on the spot, not just shortening its life.
Dyeing & Colour Changes
Our hair can technically be dyed; it's genuine Remy human hair. But it's already been processed to achieve its shade, so further dyeing, especially lightening or tone-correcting, carries real risk of uneven colour or a brassy result. This applies to any pre-coloured hair extensions, not just ours.
If you want to change the colour, use a professional colourist with experience in extensions. Never DIY.
Dyed hair cannot be returned. Once the hair has been colour-altered, we can no longer verify its original condition, and any result from the dyeing process falls outside our returns policy.
Sun, Sunbeds & Water
Human hair extensions can dry out, discolour, and fade with UV exposure (sunbeds and strong sun) and with chlorine or salt water. Unlike your natural hair, they don't recover on their own, because they're no longer attached to a scalp that replenishes them with natural oils. A little protection goes a long way.
- Cover or tie up before sunbathing or a sunbed. A hat, scarf, or simply tying hair up cuts down on direct UV exposure to the lengths.
- Limit time in strong, direct sun where you can; treat it the same way you'd protect colour-treated hair.
- Chlorine and salt water both pull moisture out of the hair and roughen the cuticle, leaving extensions dry, brittle, and prone to tangling; lighter shades can also pick up a slight discolouration from chlorine over time.
- Clip-ins: take them out before you get in. There's no upside to swimming in them, and it speeds up wear on the wefts.
- Nano rings: rinse with fresh water before swimming; pre-wetting the hair means it absorbs less chlorine or salt water. Rinse again straight after, then apply a leave-in or light conditioner to the lengths once dry.
- Either way: tie hair up before getting in. Less movement in the water means less tangling at the wefts or rings.
- After any sun, sunbed, or water exposure you couldn't avoid, rinse and apply a light conditioner to the lengths once dry. It won't undo UV or chlorine damage, but it stops it compounding.
Nano Ring Maintenance
- Some shedding in the first 1–2 weeks is normal as the rings settle in; it typically stops on its own. If it doesn't ease off after a couple of weeks, get in touch.
- Don't twist or pull at the rings. This loosens them and causes premature slippage.
- Keep oil and conditioner away from the rings. Product on the bond is the number one cause of slipping; apply conditioner from mid-length down only.
- Dry the roots fully after washing. Damp rings against the scalp cause odour and weaken the bond over time.
- Brushing: hold each row of rings still with one hand, and brush below it with a loop brush, ends first. Never brush directly through the bonds.
Troubleshooting
- Tangling at the wefts or rings: usually product buildup or sleeping with hair down. Brush out gently, wash, and tie up before bed going forward.
- Dryness or frizz after a few washes: deep condition the lengths once a week, keeping it away from the roots and bonds.
- Smell near the scalp (nano rings): the rings need a more thorough wash and dry, or it's time for a reposition.
- Shedding: a small amount is completely normal, especially at the wefts and rings. If it's heavy or sudden, get in touch.
